New HDAS Launched

Log in to Healthcare Databases Advanced Search (HDAS) today and you will notice some differences. The search site, providing access to Medline, Embase, Cinahl and PsycInfo, etc, has undergone a major redesign.  Not only is there a new colour scheme:

But there is also some improved functionality.

The main improvement is that it is so much easier to apply limits (e.g. date, age range, language, etc.) to your search.  Just do your search and click Apply Limits next to your results:

You can then choose your limits from the menus, using the tabs to open new choices.

The clipboard feature is easier to access too. Clipboard allows you to save results for the duration of your search session. Really handy if you are doing lots of searches in one go – just select references from your results and copy them to the clipboard as you go along. You can then print, save or email all your selected references in one go when you have finished. The benefit as well being that if you try to copy  a reference to clipboard and it’s already there it won’t add it again!

The clipboard feature is now located on the panel at the bottom of your search results:

The other major improvement is how you change databases – much easier! Now just select a new database from the drop down menu and bingo! You’re in the new database!

You can also choose to re-run your entire search or re-run just selected rows from your search – another improvement!

So, what do you think? Do you like it?

To help you with the new look, a comprehensive guide is already available on EEL or download a copy here.
